We have a ten-year-old Bosch frost-free, upright freezer. Ice keeps on forming around the freezer coils until it becomes a solid block of ice. The compressor is now running continuously.

We have tried a complete defrost and have checked the door seal.

The question is: is this freezer worth repairing or should we go for a new one?

Defrost problem by the sounds of it so, could be…

      Defrost heater
      Defrost thermostat
      Defrost timer or controller

Or they’re the likely culprits at least but you’d have to test to suss what one was the issue.

Well we need a bigger freezer, anyway, so we’ve decided to get a new one.

Which brands do you recommend? We are an ISE/Miele/Siemens type family.

    Liebherr.

Dont’ bother looking at anything else would be my advice unless you want a US style fridge freezer. 😉
