ParticipantHave a Samsung Rs21 for my sins. What an unfortunate purchase that was. It has broken down quite a few times over the past six years – and has had the upgrade kit installed as well as new defrost heater replaced by myself only last week after continuously tripping the house out.
Now I have a newish problem – the metal separator between fridge and freezer compartments is getting very hot – even getting towards too hot to touch for more than 10 secs. It will cool off, then get hot again. I notice that if I drop the freezer temp from 20 to 18 it will cool off and so on. So I’m thinking it is to do with the compressor possibly of maybe the condensor fan should there be one – I guess it could be poor circulation and when I drop the temp the compressor doesn’t need to run and so the air doesn’t need to circulate.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I am concerned that this is getting dangerous. This really has turned out to be a very bad purchase, but given I have replaced so much there cannot be too much left! Unless the compressor goes, I’d rather keep it going….
Thanks,

Oh and I have checked the diagnostics – holding down power freeze and power cool, and nothing comes up.

Hi
The temperature your feeling is the refrigerant circulating round the system which is normal. To help reduce it check that you have air flow round the fridge freezer as these are not supposed to be built into units.Clean the condenser at the rear (large black coil) not compressor.

Hello Bryan and thanks for the reply.
The unit has been in the same place for quite a few years – has free access on the fridge side and front – against a wall but not tight on the rear and freezer side.
The condensor – this would be at the bottom of the rear of the unit – remove the lower cover?
