ParticipantHi,
I thought the oven element was causing the RCD to trip (like it has previously), so I tried to change it …. and now I have a non working oven so would appreciate some help. And it was a dodgy water pump in the garden that was causing the RCD to trip, so I need not have touched the oven in the first place 🙁
The oven is a Neff U1451SOGB/05.
As I unscrewed the element and pulled it through, one of the spade connections came loose so cannot be sure how it was connected before or take any photos.
There are two sets of wires, each consisting of two wires crimped together in a spade connector. All the wires are white with thin red lines on them.
There is also an unused white/green wire that was on the previous element that had a ground connection.
I have attached each of red/white wire spade connectors to each side of the element but the element does not heat up. Photos attached.
The element reads 23.3 ohms and the spare element reads 28 ohms so I assume both are ok.
When I turn the oven on, the fan starts ok and the red light comes on to signify the oven is not upto temperature.
If I connect the black terminal on the multimeter to the green/white ground wire then I measure about 240v on one of the red/white pair and 0v on the other pair with it showing a – sign.
I have tried the red/white spade connectors on every combination of the 4 connectors on the element but no joy.
Am I missing another connection that is hiding behind the back of the oven ?
Or could it be the thermostat ….. although the red light is coming on to suggest the oven needs to heat up ?
Any suggestions of what else I can try would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Steve.

As the oven is still out of action, I’m getting earache from the wife so just wondered if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for the problem with my oven element ?
Do the two sets of wires seem correct or am I missing some ?
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Steve.

Seams correct to me. Is there a one shot cutout in the element circuit normally on the back of the oven cavity some where?

Must be a thermal fuse, normally a small white toc, with 2 wires. Probably be that, you’ve got power to one side and not through it?

Thanks for the suggestions on the thermal fuse.
Any ideas where I can get one, as I could not seem to find one listed under Neff spares on the ukwhitegoods online shop ?
Also, I guess its fitted on the back of the oven cavity somewhere. Any ideas exactly where ?
Thanks,
Steve.

I’ve got this all working now, so thought I’d update the post just in case anyone else stumbles across a similar problem.
I took the oven out of the housing and removed the back panel. And hey presto there was also a white lead with back lines with a spade connector on the end. This must have come loose when I unscrewed the element.
After a bit more research, I then connected the two white/red wires to one side of the element and the white/black wire to the other side.
Now all is working fine !
