Hi all i closed my shop 18 months ago and moved into a small council ran unit in a compound all was inc in the rent except gas and electric,The office told me who it was for electric but never told me about the gas supplier (not sure if they even knew as they dont deal with it) anyways as i have never used gas just left it and then yesterday i got a bill for £720 off Corona energy re my gas even though consumption is 0!!

I dont know who they are and have never had any correspondance with them or signed a contract,Question is where do i stand???

    any advice appreciated.

    cheers chris

Send them a blunt letter 2 words .. I’ll leave them to your imagination.

    Re: Gas Bill

Do you have a gas meter? Is this an estimated bill or based on actual readings? What time period does it cover? Looks like you might be on a deemed contract – see here and here as well.

    “Deemed contracts for business consumers

A supplier will nearly always charge higher rates for a business consumer on a deemed contract. However it is important to note that if the ownership or leasehold of a commercial property changes, costs such as standing charges will not apply until energy at the property has actually been used.”

    Mod edit:

Shortened your URL’s as they were making the page very large.
