I’ve read through the forum, and found that there could be a couple of things causing this, but I wonder if someone could help.

I found the dishwasher with the bottom spray arm completely unscrewed, and the Eco light (4th from the left) flashing. Now when I try to run a wash, it’ll empty and then do a small beep before the light starts flashing again. It’ll be constantly draining.

I’m concerned about moving the dishwasher due to the way it has been built in, so if it needs draining I’m not going to be able to tip it! Ive tried putting twisted paper towel into the bottom spray arm hole, and have soaked up alot of water, but still have the problem.

Of course I could be barking up the wrong tree! Can anyone please suggest a fix?

    Its a BFI680, 😉

Sadly if little or no intelligence was used when it was built in. ( the norm for most kitchen fitters ) then you are in for a struggle.

It will have to come right out to drain properly, thats of course unless you wish to wait a few weeks whilst it slowly evaporates. The hole you are poking the towel into is just the hose from the top of the circulation pump, unless of course you have pushed this to one side with your towel. In that case it will certainly have to come out.

If you remove the lower spray arm from the piece that fits into the base is is usually possible to screw this back into place without removing the machine.

The lower arm is a twist fit into the threaded piece, check your instruction book for the correct way to remove it. 😉

Thank you very much for your response! 😀

Evaporation was the word I was looking for, although I was hoping it wouldn’t take quite so long!

I see what you mean about the circulation pump. Sometimes there is a hole when I take the arm off, and sometimes it is blocked. I’m going to leave it blocked now I think, and stop delving.

I think if it hasn’t dried up in a week, I will look to buy a new one, as it is over 5 years old (we think).

Would you recommend a good brand? To be fair this dishwasher has been pretty good.

    Thanks again!

Buy a new one just because it has a bit of water in the base, the mind boggles. 😕 The longer you leave the water in there the greater the risk of it damaging the main motor or other components.

You are going to have to pull it out anyway so why buy a new one when it just needs emptying out and the lower arm spigot screwing back in. ❓ ❓

    Re: Hotpoint BF1680 problem

I take your point but I believe that when I pull it out, all the legs will snap off. I can’t even seem to screw them in because the wooden legs that they’ve been put on have no slip. So in my eyes, if I take it out I’m condemned to buying a new one, whereas I could wait and see.

Sorry I’ve made your mind boggle!

If it has the black plastic legs used on most of these Indesit dishwashers then there is usually a hexagon bit at the bottom that you should be able to get a spanner on, a spray of WD 40 on the legs will also help.
