    Good afternoon all,

Visited the above m/c today, which has an unusual problem.

Upon switching power on, the selector dial central light flashes once, before then flashing the other ten programme segments one at a time from the top.

Then flashes central light again, before continuing above sequence.

One cannot select any programme, or over-ride the above, which also continues its flashing sequence for about twenty seconds when switched off at the socket!

Am I correct in suspecting the main e.c.u. or does anyone know what may be causing this fault?

    Kind regards,

    Jon

I’ve been in touch with Hoover Spares, who inform me that there are three electronic modules, these being:

Programme Select Module, Control Panel Module and Main Electronic Control Module.

    Any help much appreciated.

Fitted a new main electronic control module earlier today, and all was well for about two minutes, then pop, and pcb blown!

Contacted Hoover for advice… not available/no help.

Susoect drive motor, as damage to pcb closest to seven pin terminal connection.

    Any thoughts/advice welcome.

Had similar thing happen once with a Nextra. They’re a total PITA for that. If anything other than a cheapie selector switch, heater element, brushes, door hinge or other common or garden problem with them, you’re best off walking away early 🙁 . That’s my opinion.
If it must be repaired, you’re probably going to need motor plus module. Worth checking Ebay for s/hand motor depending on how long these models have been around. Have also had motor plug connector drop loose from the bracket causing wires to rub against motor body and short out on Hoover.
    Mike.
