ParticipantI have an LG F1402 that is making a horrible noise during the wash/agitation cycle. It seems to be working just fine and spins quietly (well, as quietly as this machine gets) and the washing seems done, it’s just this noise.
I have recorded the noise but the forum will not allow a .wav file to be uploaded. I am happy to email it to anyone who would like to hear it!
Thanks in advance

Thank you. Is it repairable? We’re in Kent and have a lot of limescale – could limescale be the issue?
I’ve had a look through the spare parts and can’t see a circulation pump – could someone please advise me?
I have seen there is a youtube video to replace this, or would I be better off getting a professional in?
Thanks

This should be it:

I doubt you will find a video of it being replaced specifically but it is mounted behind the filter at the bottom of the washing machine.

Thanks very much for that.
This is the video I was going to try to work from.

In the end I called an engineer to fix the pump. He said he wasn’t sure which one had gone so replaced both, hypothesising he would save me the labour costs if the other one went soon after.
I now have the grinding noise again, just started on a load this morning, which stopped with a message coming up to say to check the drain valve and filter.
When I took the cap off the drain valve, nothing came out, which is most unusual.
I then undid the filter…… Still looking the floor as I type!
My question: could there be a blockage in the drain valve that is causing the machine to not empty? Just put it in a quick wash and it has stopped during the rinsing stage. No message, but I paused it and started again and it seemed to move on a bit, but now stopped again.
Another new pump required? Two?
Your advice would be most welcome

Some foreign body (hair grip, collar stiffener, limescale deposit?) is rattling about in the pump I would imagine.

The feed tube top of door seal can get blocked and tends to cause noise during wash as the circulation pump is running. If not teeth on direct drive may have worn.

Taken it apart, tested the pumps and replaced the drain pump with one of the two the last engineer took out.
Cleaned out filter, blown through drain hose – all clear there. Still getting the same problem. Circulation pump is working and the drain pump was working when it went back in. The panel is indicating it is stopping at the rinse stage – water is sprayed in, the drum turns and rinses, then the message comes up to check the drain hose.
We have just successfully run the ‘tub clean’ function, and water has been pumped out with no problem, indicating the drain pump is functioning correctly. Well and truly stuck now!
Any ideas please?

Now sorted. Found the technical manual and put it in QC test mode, working through each test. I think himself had wired up the pump incorrectly, but not certain.
Link to manuals in case anyone else needs it

I’m sure that’ll cure it.
