ParticipantMethinks the timer on this one, but would like a second opinion from ye learned chappies.
Live and neutral to timer, through delay timer, capacitor/ filter ok, door switch ok, dryer just dead. Seems odd on a newish dryer, but then it has that name on it………. 😉

Tony,
I think you are right about it being the Timer (Part No : 1701958), I have not come across this problem before but it appears most wholesalers carry plenty of stock of them, so I guess there’s a demand 🙂
When you switch it on, does the element get a feed I wonder? Or is the whole lot open circuit, if it is, then the Timer is duff I reckon 😉

If you’re sure the door switch is OK as that’s the usual culprit, it can’t be much else really.
We had one of these recently that appeared dead but was actually powering the heater, that turned out to be the timer at fault.

Just to finish off this post.
Timer it was. The delay being “special order” item 😈 for one of those customers who is cleverer than thou and lets you know at every occasion.
Thought I’d let him stew over chrimble for the fact that he knew everything about this dryer….even to the point that he’d just changed the drum shaft and not thought to mention this on the original call. Mr Meddle had trapped all the heater wiring when he pulled the back panel off to get the drum out 😯 causing a stat lead to short to earth. Only became apparent when I got a fluctating megger reading.Isn’t it a great feeling when you can do him a favour and”not let the Mrs know” 😉

oh! 😯
Another one of these.
This one has the busted shaft which can be repaired, BUT does the inner
front plate which the drum runs on which and holds the bearing seal come as a separate spare or is it a complete front plate assembly even though they are screwed together.
Just a thought.Tony C

Tony,
Not quite sure what you are referring 😕
If you mean the Front Drum Support that has the nylon bearings and felt seal on, then there are 2 versions dependant on its Date Code. Early has a metal plate and Late predictably plastic 🙁
So you need the date code on that. 😉

Thanks martin,
It should have said ‘holds the bearing and seal’ so your’e right on the description.
Date code on the dryer is 05.Tony C
