I’ve just bought a new Lec L5010W larder fridge which replaced a late 80s Lec L505. It is an undercounter fridge and sits alongside the matching deep freeze, U5010W.

The fridge has a problem getting down to the correct temp. I was expecting an internal temp at the bottom, on top of the salad drawer, of 5C on thermostat setting of around 2-3/6 – same as the old fridge.
Currently on 5/6 and is down at 8/9C after being left overnight.
Last night pulled the fridge into the open air and temp was 6.7C this morning – so still not very good. On 5/6 I would have expected down at getting on for 0C.
Ambient has been round 20C. Cooling plate at back of fridge has moisture drops on it and is cold.
Freezer U5010W is at -18C on thermostat setting 2/5 – which is exactly what I would have expected and is also under counter.

I note that there are no condenser tubes on the back of either unit, which I guess does nothing to aid cooling air flowing over them and enhancing efficiency.

Engineer coming next week to look at fridge next week, but I was just curious to try and find out why is might not be working.

Also, where are the condenser tubes??

    Thanks.

    Re: New Lec L5010W

Comparing the old and new is like comparing apples and oranges I’m afraid.

The old one was probably pretty decent, the new one I’d expect is a rebadged Chinese unit. So, the settings will be totally different.

Asides from which, technology marches on…

That said, it doesn’t sound as if it’s cooling too well.

    K.
