ParticipantHi sorry dont have the model number to hand but this is a twin evaporator model approx 2 years old . I fitted a new compressor yesterday , customer has phoned this morning to say fridge is down in temp. but freezer is only down to 3 c .My question is are the two evaporators fed by separate capillaries or is the evaporator in the freezer just a continuation of the fridge evaporator ? im thinking just short on refrigerant or blocked capillary to freezer evaporator ?your thoughts please. Thanks Cras

Depends on model but some of the later models have a solenoid diverter valve. What was the original fault?

Compressor was goosed ,the whole thing defrosted ,no solenoid visible on this model. You can see the cap. as it enters the fridge evap . but not on the freezer section which led me to think that the freezer evap. is just a continuation of the fridge evap and return to the compressor. cheers cras

If its only about 2 yrs old then it’s probably a RSH1. What did the oil / refrigerant smell like when you opened the system ?. Common fault is the oil turns acid and the freezer evap gets blocked with crap from the compressor thus taking the new one out within hours or days.the oil would be a light to toffee brown colour.was you getting the system full of refrigerant ?.

Thanks ,for the replies been back today and popped a bit more refrigerant in it and it now appears to be refrigerating ok so it would appear it was a little short …the culprit would appear to be my faulty gauge 😳 ..thanks Cras

Bryan. Question. How do you tell if refrigerant turned to acid? And what is the cause of this?
Thanks
