Hotpoint WML540 wont do anything?

    Hi, i have a hotpoint WML540 washer. the machine turns on, and door locks, but wont do anything. There is just a “humming” noise coming from the machine, maybe pump? . But wont do go into a spin or anything. Whats causing this? – have chekced brushes and are fine. Thanks in advace

    have you tried setting the machine to spin only to see if it goes? The buzz you describe would be usual at the start of a cycle when the valve engergises, if for some reason the plunger in the valve doesnt lift or theres an obstruction/kink in the supply hose the machine wont start since it doesnt fill.

    Yes had it on a spin only cycle and does the same thing.

    thats one of the newer ones with the instant open lock, could be the interlock failing to engage hence the buzz or the spring which holds the hook in the doors gone so the lock isnt being pushed to the closed position
