Have cust with above dishwasher and the two spring steel straps which hook onto the springs and also the door have snapped((door drops down). Is ther a reason for this happening or is it normally just replacement of the straps and what is the part no/cost of these?

    Cheers

    They just break normally.

Part number for the straps themselves is 1800806 – £3.17 each, you may also need the guides that they run through, these are 1800805 – £9.13 each.

Customer now says that you repaired my dishwasher. It has smoke coming out of it. Wont empty. And it wont turn off.
Went round on off switch not controlling power light. Meggered found direct conn live and chassis fuse not gone. Low insulation heater, drain pump melted and on off switch perfect.
Whilst i was there in 2004 “Electrician” putting in latest consumer unit as i commented on the old fusebox with no RCD. Seemingly charged him 200 quid to fit 5 or 6 breakers that plug into fusebox and insulation tape over the last one that had no fuse fitted or carrier (exposed Bar). 🙄
He did cut the hole in the fuse box cover lid though.
And theres me worried i had done something wrong.
Will plug in socket RCD protector still work if there is an earth conn missing?

    Regards
    Simon

No, if there’s no earth continuity from the machine to earth , there is no path for earth leakage current to take, resulting in the currents in the live and neutral being the same , preventing the rcd from operating. The device works by measuring the difference between the current in the live and that in the neutral, which is the current travelling down the earth conductor.
