ParticipantHi Guys,
This is what happens:
Select programme, hold start button for a couple secs, the drain pump kicks in for 1 second and then immediately stops.I have found a way to override by holding the start button down whilst the drain pump is running, if I let go of button, the drain pump cuts out and so does the cycle. If I hold it on until the draining phase is complete and water starts entering, I can then let go of the button and all is well… That is until the next time to pump out comes around, the machine switches off. I then hold button down and report this procedure.
What Ive tried, (Im an electrician) –
There was a bang a couple of days ago, and Ive investigated the mains suppressor, could be faulty but doesn’t look black at all.I looked at the PCB, buying marks where main power goes in and terminal loose. I re-soldered a wire on and all works the same.
I’ve checked drain pump, bit noisy but seems ok. Water drains fine.
I read on here about the dispenser solenoid causing random problems. I tested it and it is open circuit so a new one needed as dispenser door doesn’t open. Will this cure the other problem? The thing is, the power to the solenoid is live/neutral all the time, I used my mains tester to act as a load when removing the solenoid but drain pump still cut out. I find it strange that solenoid should be live all the time. Maybe this is a PCB fault and why the soloed has burned out?
Any ideas from the experts before I give up! As I say, all works fine as long as you hold the start button down throughout drain procedure.
Thanks in Advance for any info/help.

Oh, heres a link to a similar scenario

would go for the solonoid as if its open circuit there is defo a problem which will effect the pcb. If however the dispenser flap opens as soon as you switch on then, as you suggested, the pcb will also be shot. A good tip is to pick up a basic washing machine solonoid valve (as its a lot cheaper than a new dispenser) and connect that up in place of the dipsneser coil, this will then prove if it is the problem or not and if so then go for the dispenser itself.

Thanks for the reply eastlmark.
I must have a shower solenoid somewhere in the van, will give that a go – Do you think that would be ok as opposed to a washing machine solenoid?
As I say, I used my mains tester on the wires feeding the solenoid (with the solenoid disconnected) and the machine live to kind of act as a load and see if that made the pcb work but no luck there.
(If I disconnect say the drain motor and liven up machine, the PCB doesn’t light up until I put my mains tester across the wires, so obviously in this respect it needs a load to go through to join the wires – something new to me!)
Thanks for the help, will give it a go. Can’t really think what else it could be if not apart from PCB.
Thanks again.
