ParticipantI have a faulty Bosch SGS43C02 GB/35.
None of the LEDs are lit and the machine does not work.
I have checked power is getting to the controller panel using a meter.
I have cleaned the tanks and checked the microswitches are working as suggested in another post for a heater problem.
What now please?
P.S. I am a competent fixer as I worked as a univesity technician for many years.September 2, 2012 at 7:53 pm #380558linrew

sounds like the module, check the bosch website to see if its the one covered by a recall.

The machine is about 8 years old so I would think its out of any call back period. Its hardly used and in cosmetically excelent condition but if its a controller for £150 its not worth repairing as other faults must soon be on the way.
Speaking to friends and rellatives it would appear that dishwashers have a life of about 3 years and then they become uneconomical to repair, what a waste of resources, hardly very green!September 4, 2012 at 9:20 am #380560linrew

not the case, the repair is for appliances up to 12 (twelve) years old, if its not covered then it may be at the point of uneconomical but most of our applainces last 15+ years if looked after correctly. anyone who buys an appliance and is happy with 3 years clearly isnt buying bosch as we expect at least 10.

One other question, I read that it is possible to get the machine to do a self test of its functions, how do I do that on the model I have?

Your machine is not covered under the Bosch recall scheme. Self test not possible to do unless the control unit is fully functional. Clearly, in your case, it isn’t. Costly to replace the main control unit but, assuming there is power to it of course, it would need replacing to cure. 🙁

click the link for important saftey notice for dishwasher and input the full model number and the FD number(4 digit code under the model number probably starting with 8). i believe these are covered under the scheme (going by the sgs43c02gb/35 number on the first post). if so you will get the module and call out free then it may be possible to see what blew the module (ask the BSH technician).

OK linrew, thanks for that advice, I checked the Bosch site and my machine was one for recall. The engineer came today, fitted a new programmer and its all working again. I think that’s what you call a result.
Thanks again for the advice.September 17, 2012 at 8:44 pm #380566linrew

did he give you any indication as to what caused it to go in the first place?

No linrew, he looked at it and said he couldnt see the usual fault which I believe is blackening arounnd one of the pcb pads, he thought damp might have got into it.
