Which September issue – info about repairs

I signed up to Which? as I was getting fair about of calls from them via Which? Local website. At the moment I get a third of call out from their website.

The reason for posting was that in the their magazine, there are two articles which I felt it was slightly unfair toward us engineers.

Under the article of “Tell us your story” on page 75, about Dishwashers and Ovens. Basically asking what features they like about and what features they could do without. Also would like to hear if you fixed a dishwasher or oven yourself and more about the repair they carried out. It implies that people are encouraged to attempt to repair their appliances not that I am discouraging them to do the repair but this highlights the dangers of “suggesting” that any average person can undertake the repairs. This what I found rather worrying and dread to read the outcome of what people have done to it.

Secondly on page 78 under the article of “How much should you pay?”, there is a subject on Does a repair make sense?. It was saying about being sure if the repair is cost effective whereas a washing machine motor to supply and fix would encourage to scrap the machine and buy a new one. Makes me wonder if they got the information out of context.
