The above freezer arrived today, when we came to unpack it tonight (bit of a mission in itself!) there were dire warnings on both the box (although this was a fridge freezer box not the box for our appliance for some reason) and on paper inside about making sure to remove polystyrene and cardboard from the bottom, above the compressor motor. The only thing we could see was a piece of shiny silver card sticking out, stuck on with lots of tape. We did start to remove this but are unsure whether we should be doing or not! There doesn’t feel to be any polystyrene inside it, rather plastic. There feels to be polystyrene to both sides.

Sorry if this seems like an idiotic question, the instructions were very unclear and having torn off a fair bit of cardboard we are now afraid of doing more and actuslly damaging it! Thanks!

On top of the compressor/motor (above the pastic tray) theres normally a block of polystyrene packaging & a cardboard piece. They should not be hard to remove & not fixed with tape from what I remember. They are just to prevent the compressor/motor from shaking about too much during transit.

If you post a picture of what you are removing someone will tell you if its correct or not.
