ParticipantHi,
i have the above fridge/freezer. The fridge works fine. A couple of days ago the freezer temp went above -15degrees (i.e. got warmer) and the fridge/freezer beeped whenever you opened one of the doors indicating that the freezer wasn’t cold enough (it does this if it goes above -15). The temperature has gradually been increasing and it went as high as -6 between me pulling out drawers etc to find the model number! Its now gone back down to -10 which is good but not good enough.
It has two compressors and the larger one (presumably the freezer one) is slightly uncomfortably hot to touch circa 50degrees i guess?
Anyway i’m trying to figure out whats wrong as its a good fridge/freezer and i’d like to get it fixed asap. I read the pinned threads but couldn’t find the answer i was looking for. Perhaps it could be the fan not turning for some reason? If so do i need to defrost the freezer (i have a lot in there!!!) or can i say take out the drawers and put a steaming kettle in there or something similar to try and get the same effect?
Any advice much appreciated!September 14, 2012 at 6:16 pm #381309jsedgwick

I should say that the freezer door seal has a tear in it, but it looks like it still seals well and we’ve used the fridge/freezer for over a year with the seal having the same split and not had any issues.

More likely the fan is either blocked by excess frost or ice or seized, i’d just leave it off completely for a day or so, then put it back on. If the fan wasn’t turning it may not circulate the cold air enough & if the sensors don’t pick up the temp drop the compressor will continue to run & the motor will be hot to touch, see if a defrost cures it.

Thanks Seamy, i’ll give that a whirl.
Hmmm… am I doing any harm by keeping it going for the time being?
Have a full freezer and don’t want to have to throw anything away! Will get eating and see if a neighbour has any space for the time being!
