ParticipantHi,
I have a Samsung J14535 which has recently flooded my kitchen!
Last week I ran a standard ‘Colour’ wash when the machine stopped half way through the cycle with the error code 4E. Without looking this up, I checked the filter and discovered 2 hair grips.
Unfortunately removing these this didn’t resolve the issue so… After looking up ‘Samsung 4E’ on Google I found http://tinyurl.com/dyqkdm6 which explained how to clean the water hose mesh filter.
I removed the mains hose from the back of the washer. Inside I found a small white plastic filter which I removed, cleaned and returned.
After returning the filter, the washer starts to fill and then after about 1 minute errors with the same ‘4E’ code.
One other interesting thing I’ve noticed is that a spin cycle runs ok. I’ve also found that if I run a ‘quick cycle’, there is no error code; however, the washer fills with water and then (i presume) the pressure gets so great that the door seal is breached, which is how I flooded the kitchen.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi,the link you have provided to samsung is in my opinion slightly misleading.
Error 4e is a water supply error but can be caused by other things.
Your symptoms point to the pressure switch which if working correctly would stop your machine overflowing.
Also 4e can be caused by the pressure switch failing to detect the rising water level(or no water entering the machine).
It could also be caused by a hole in the tubing from the pressure chamber to the pressure switch.
Unless you are feeling competent and confident I would call an engineer.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I’ve had quick check of the tubing that goes to the pressure switch and visually it looks ok, although I guess you wouldn’t be able to detect a really tiny hole easily.
One thing I didn’t mention in my original post is that when the 4e code is displayed the washer beeps 5 times. not sure whether that indicates anything?
Is there any way to test the pressure switch to see whether or not its faulty?
Many thanks

Quite often, as previously mentioned, the 4 E fault code can be a hole/split in the pressure swt`s hose. They usually split at the connection to the pressure swt`s little nozzle and are difficult to see the tiny split. As a further note these pressure swt`s when blown into do not make your usual switch clicking noise and require a great deal of pressure to make them work so do not be misled if you blow in to one and hear nothing and then think the actual swt is at fault. If you were to connect a spare piece of hose to one of these pressure switches and blow in to one as it was filling, as a test, make sure that there is sufficient water in before ye blow as they often will throw up another fault code OB which in itself is misleading as this signifies an over flow problem and not a under fill problem as per your test; but there you go!! Based on Samsung model J1253 but applies to most of the Samsungs I`ve seen.
