Participanthallo everyone,
am about to buy a vacuum cleaner (not dyson) but dont know what is an effective wattage to pick up stuff from a carpet – i intend to hoover once a week.
cheaper models appear to be 1600 watt so i’m thinking 1600 is not enough to stave off irritation………?
thanks

Some of the other guys will likely chime in but, in all honesty, it’s another pretty meaningless “mine’s bigger than yours” number. And, that’s all it is, a number.
If the filtration it rubbish, it won’t pick up squat.
If the brush roll or method of pickup is rubbish, it won’t pick up squat.
And so on.
If you get a more powerful motor and all the rest isn’t terribly good, it’ll make more noise, burn more electricity but ultimately it won’t make it any better.
You would however have the V8 HEMI of the vacuum cleaner world with a super duper megawatt motor. 😉

Sebo or miele are what i and my family use, work well as long as you follow the above advice regards filters and bag and roller cleanliness.

Sebo does indeed outshine the lot. Very powerful brush and suction pick up and doesn’t make a racket like those bagless heaps of junk like Dyson. Fully automatic and the filtration outstanding! 😀

Also on another thread you mention the Shark NV356E which has no Google reference here in the UK. It only appears on very limited sale in America. In the UK Shark is mainly online sales and on the shopping channels on TV.
I have also investigated your IP address and it appears you are posting from Pakistan.
So to my mind you are a spammer setting this site up for loads of unauthorised advertising.
If this proves to be the case one of us Mods or Admin will delete your account immediately and your IP address range will be added to the ban list also.

Shark are just appearing on the UK market from the USA. From my experience of using one in the US ( the UK one looks similar) they are pretty poor, heavy, cumbersome and the extended tools pretty crappy. Interestingly the Sebo X4 pet was originally sold in the USA as a commercial usage vacuum cleaner and only recently available now from the likes of Walmart, but expensive to what they cost in the UK.
