    Hi there,

Was wondering if anyone would know what is causing this.

On some of the items in the dishwasher, there’s a few of these deposits left. It’s mainly on the inside and outside of glasses, but it doesn’t happen on all of them.

It’s like a reddy brown crust.

Usually it’s on items in the top drawer.

Mostly, it occurs on glasses and on the inside of cups.

I’m just baffled as to what could be causing it, so was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

    Much appreciated.

Usually if you do a service was and use the correct salt and rinse-aid in the machine it will disappear.

Service wash being the hottest setting in the program’s for the longest period and with noting in the dishwasher at the time.

    Hi there,

Thank you very much for the advice and speedy response. Much appreciated.

Okay, I’m not sure that there’s anywhere that I can put rinse aid in the dishwasher, and I just always ensure that the salt is topped up every Friday night.

I’ll look in the manual and see what it says about rinse aid.

Please let me know what you’d advise if you have any more advice to give.

    Much appreciated.

    😀

    Okay,

I checked out the manual. I know how much I now need to add in order for the maintenance cycle.

Silly, I do the maintenance washes on the washing machine, but not as often for the dishwasher.

Anyway, I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Thanks once again…

    Regards.

A few basic checks on a DW can make a massive difference

Remove your spray arms and check the spray holes for blockages, clean and refit.

Note , when removing the bottom arm make sure you don’t undo the whole support. This is the pipe that the nut that hold e spray is attached to. The arm its self just detaches by turningmthe nut and you should have no pipe atached to it. its also Worth checking this support is tight when refitting as if its loose water will leave into the base of the DW.

On the Indesit evo 2 &3 models where the top basket goes in at the back there is a round nut with a rubber gasket in. the middle, it should have a nice round hole in the centre to seal the pipe for the top wash arm. Check to see if its torn. These normally go every few years and can easily be replaced

Clean the filters, the round mesh one can hold grease even when it looks clean, poor boiling water through it and gently clean with a brush and some washing up liquid.

    Just some basic checks.

A DW does a dirty job and need some attention it self from time to time.

    Thanks for the info.

I do the basic checks, but have not checked the seal for the top arm recently, though I only replaced it last year, but it could have gone again I guess?

I haven’t done the boiling water trick on the filter though, so I will try that.

I’m still getting the deposits, but thought I would wait until I’ve done a few of the maintenance washed and regularly used the rinse aid before coming to a conclusion.

I’ll do the boiling water thing now and see how it goes. I did the top and bottom arm yesterday, but like I say, I did not check the top seal so I will do that again.

    Hi there,

Just to say that it appears to be better now. I’m not sure what has worked, but I’ve done a few of the maintenance washes, bought the rinse aid, and am now regularly cleaning the filter itself. I suspect that it was the latter that was a problem. I regularly cleaned it, but rarely the main filter inside, always fearing it was too delicate. When I did I would only rinse it with cold water.

I’ve also taken note of the other good tips on here, so I think so far, so good at the moment, and will keep an eye on it all.

Thanks to all the help so far. It certainly seems to be the burnt food described in the threads here, and there’s no blockage in the spray arms or anything else and it all seems to be working well, which makes me suspect it was a build up of the filter.

Anyway, apologies if it was something obvious for you guys to solve, nevertheless, I still appreciate you pointing me in the right direction as all seems a lot better now.

    🙂
