ParticipantI’m looking for a new washing machine and separate tumble dryer. I currently have an Indesit washer dryer which I have never been impressed with and rarely use the dryer part as it’s so useless. We have just become a family of 4 (including a husband who plays sport 3-5 times a week) and our washing is just piling up in this weather as we can’t get it all dry.
In reality we need to do a wash every day, or at least every other day, and obviously we will need to get it dry too. I’m looking for reasonably priced machines that are good value for money as I’m currently on maternity pay.
Any suggestions on brands or models that would be suitable for this usage?

Look at the following brands – Amica, Bosch & Gorenje all of which have middle of the road models that are reliable with a two year warranty at least. Dryers again look at Bosch & Gorenje with maybe White-Knight (Crosslee) if you want a cheap unit made in the UK but with easily acquired spare parts if it goes wrong – buy vented units rather than condenser if you can. Top end look at ISE appliances.

Thank you for your replies :)Is the Bosch Classixx range ok? I have nowhere to put a vent, so I think I would have to go for a condenser even though I’d rather not, I think it’s my only option.

Only proviso with Bosch is ‘sealed tubs’ 🙁 If you put sealed tubs in the search box you will get the gist :boops:

So I have looked on the Which website and have narrowed it down to the following options (2 are Bosch, but how would I find out if they have sealed tubs or not?)
Bosch WAQ28461GB – £475 ish
Bosch WAQ24461 – £450 ish
AEG L75470FL – £520 ish
Panasonic NA-140VX3W – £545 ish – I didn’t even know panasonic made w/m but it comes with a 6 year warranty so that’s why it’s on my list! Can anyone shed some light on whether any of these are worth giving a go, or which one might be best, or whether they would have sealed tubs or not?

It may just be as my “new” model of the WAQ24461 has a sealed tub, which does seem like a backward step.Don

Do Panasonic actually make washing machines or are theirs all bought in, rebadged washers?

They make their own in their Chinese production facility and buy in some of the lower specification ones from Vestel. So far as I am aware at any rate.
The guys I’ve spoken to don’t rate them that highly and say they’re a bit of a ‘mare to work on.

Me again, washing machine sorted, now for tumble dryer. Has to be a condenser. I was looking at the Bosch range again, but happy to go for other options. I’ve looked at the which reviews and have narrowed it down to the following that are in my price range:
Bosch WTE84309GB – £450
Bosch WTE84105GB – £320 – low running costs
Miele T8402C -£610 – low running costs
Siemens WT46E100GB – £400
LG RC8015A – £375I’m thinking it’s between the 2 with lower running costs really, any advice?

Go to your local independant dealer for bosch or siemens as there is a few offers on at the moment, siemens have up to £100 cashback and 5 year warranties on some models
