Hi All,
I think I might have a short in my tumble dryer. It runs fine on cold but not on hot. To this end I have removed the white plastic cover at the back and disconnected the plug on the front left of the machine – has three wires running into it from behind the drum. I am assuming this is the power to the heater. However on turning to heat mode it still shorts. Would anyone have any ideas on a fix or is it time for a new one? Many thanks.
KP.
That plug is for the heater so if its still tripping with the heater disconnected then its most likely to be the motor and given the age its not worth it.
Thanks for the reply. The drum still turns etc where it is run on the cold air setting – it’s just when I turn the dial to the to hot air settings it trips. I had hoped it would be the heater but looks like its not. Will need to look into a new one then I think 🙁
One other thing worth checking in that case is the front thermostat but its highly unlikely . This stat is hidden and is accessed from inside the drum at the front above the door opening
