My 9.5 Year Old Whirlpool AWM 1000 – Does not appear to start cycle/wash.

I turn on it switch and after 2 minutes it makes noise as if it is going to start but that stops after 30 seconds. It won’t spin or take in water.
Hot & Cold water supply are okay. Filters for both inlets are clear.
Door appears to close correctly and does not open until 55 seconds after turning off. (Normal)
The drain hose appears to be okay.
    I have tried various Programmes.
    I have tries various Temperatures.
I cleaned the Drawer for Powder/Softner.
The Filter on the bottom appears to be okay. I can put in my fingers and move the propeler.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Update: So typical first time poster didn’t read the Stickys until afterwards :rolls:
I had a look at the brushes and they were worn down. While examing them I gave them a small stretch and re-assembled and the machine appears to work now.

I reckon a new set of brushes will sort me out. Any other opinions?

Go for the brushes, clean armature with very fine emery paper too.

Emery paper? You should use a com stone which will bed the brushes in at same time.

Have tried comm sticks both soft & hard type but i’ve found very fine emery paper does the job just as good.
