Hello – I am new to this forum.

I am trying to repair an old, but up to now trustworthy AEG Lavamat 74620.

I got the C9 code – which indicated motor carbon brushes – these were replaced, and the washer worked for a few weeks. But now I have the C9 code again.

I can re-set so that it no longer shows code – and the machine will go through the various program cycle, but the drum will not turn.

I have been advised that I need a new motor – I can get a used one for £25, but it is from a Lavamat 72630 machine.

Of course if any one can suggest anything besides going for a new motor I would appreciate the advice.

Would anyone be able to advise if the motor in 72630 is the same as that in 74620?

    Many thanks for your help

all c9 means is the motor is not turning. i agree the most common fault is carbon brushes but it could be a number of things

check the wires to the brushes, motor plug and wires going to the motor first. after that it gets more complicated

Did you clean the armature of the motor when you changed the brushes?
If the armature is black with carbon dust or even damaged by the previous worn out brushes it may not work too well.
