    Hi Guys

    new to the forum

We have an LG F1222TD5 8kg Direct Drive washing machine just over 2 years old.
It has in the Last week developed a PF fault code on full wash cycle which after googling I have discovered its a Power Failure.

We tried switching off/on ect it would run for a few minutes then same again PF fault code.

We tried running it on a quick 30 wash it finished the cycle but when I opened the door smoke came out of the drum with the clothes I quickly switched off at the wall and tripped the switch Got the machine out of its surrounds. It stopped smoking more or less straight away Think we where lucky it never caught fire. Also we noticed that an item of clothing had been jammed against the rubber seal during the spin cycle and had rubbed some of the seal away on to the clothes.
I now have the dilemma of was it the item of clothing which caused this or is it a problem with the electrics ect.
    Any advice would be welcome.

    thanks in advance

Well, you could be lucky and have just caught it….was the smell of burnt rubber? -sniff the door seal! It probably won’t have done a lot of good, but I don’t see you have a lot to lose by running the machine again. the fuse in the plug “should” protect you…..before using, check the drum turns freely and there’s not more laundry jamming it.

If you have someone competent, unplug the machine, take off top/back or whatever cabinet panels and follow your nose ! gubbins that’s been cooked by electrickery has a very strong and distinct smell……this should be done before re-trying the machine.

I’m NOT a whitegoods engineer,so this is not necessarily the correct way to go about it, but in your position, that’s where i’d start.
