Hi. I have 2 Hotpoint washing machines currently at the moment a WMF940P and a WMUD843P and have had the back/top of them both. The WMF940P is a 9KG Drum the WMUD843P is an 8KG machine, I look at the parts label on both Drums they are Identical labels!! – same code and everything!

Now onto another thing, The WMF940P has a mini-load button on the fascia, the WMUD843P has no mini load button and the WMUD843P is listed as having auto mini load I think. I look at the blue water level/pressure switch on the right hand side of the machine (looking at the machine from the front) both same part on both machines same part numbers imprinted on them an same amount of cables going to its connector. Same bottom control panel board on both models must just have different software on them I just find it all strange. I mean if same drum why not market the 8kg WMUD843P as a 9KG machine? and why not feature auto mini load on both machines if they have the same water level switch fitted?

    – also the 3 phase induction motors on both these machines Identical again same part number, On the motor label it says 195v 1700RPM – why limit these machines (I am presuming by firmware/software) to 1400rpm spin speed and not 1600rpm spin speed. I hazard a guess that Hotpoint’s Super Silent 1600rpm speed washing machines have exactly the same 3 phase induction motor fitted.

Different specs for different customer needs, some parts will be the same and the manufacturer will optomise for different load capacities, just because the load size quoted is more dosnt mean the drum is bigger, you can only go so big as the physical constraints of the exterior cabinet. That is also the reason for programming the main board so it knows what the spec of the machine is.
