Participanthey ive got a diplomat softline g720 gas oven and the cooling fan isnt working ive tested the fan as im an electrician and thats fine ive then tested the pcb too and thats fine but when i power it up i get a voltage drop to the fan its should be 240v but im only getting 120v can anyone help thanks

it lookes like a stoves cooker in disguise
think your problem will be the pcb and probably the pcb power supply as these tend to loose power over time like a battery running down

sparkyI’ve got exactly the same problem with the g720 (mines a Howden supplied) and tackled it the same as you – All other function OK
Tested fan with 240 volt independent supply – OK
So PCB tested in situ 2 leads white and blue to the fan
WHITE FROM L (Live) = 240v
BLUE FROM ‘OUTPUT’ PIN = 240V — YES That’s right I registered 240v on this line too ( CRAZY – surely this should be neutral ) Not only Crazy voltage on this line but spade ends are uncovered – DANGER DANGERAnd why connect BLUE to a pin labeled OUTPUT ??
If this fan has variable speed surely the BLUE should be neutral and the white ramping up the voltage to max of 240??
If the board is blown then I’m amazed that it didn’t blow the mains breakers!
Anybody know where to find schematics for this board to check the pinouts and expected voltages ?
Regards

not as crazy as it sounds. most electronic board switch neutral. so when the board is off both wires have 240v to them. when fan is on one of them connects to neutral probably the blue but you can never be certain with internal wiring.
i think the board has not blown but the power supply on the board has gone so it cant operate. its a time thing like a battery goes dead over a long time till you cant turn over the tele without standing next to it

Thanks for that Dave – Can you advise where best to get spare board ?

Do not use it while the cooling fan is not operating, not only is it a cooling fan it also supplies combustion air to both the grill and oven burners.

Thats interesting but if its that important it makes you wonder why there is no safety device to stop the unit being used without the fan runningDave

It is important, they used to have pressure switches but when they moved to the rs2 build they did away with them when a cheaper fan was used, when the fan stops spinning the oven and grill flame goes very sloppy and unstable which of course makes this immediately i.d.

typical costs overrides safetyDave

WSTS is exactly correct – I had problems with the flame stability to the degree that the grill flame licked out of the unit in a very disturbing manner
Anyway a new control PCB corrected the fan problem and stabilised the flame burn.
Job done – thanks all for the replies and discussion
Note the same PCB is used extensively by a number of manufacturers (as per original post) and model ID’s

got same problem today
changed 0.22uF capacitor on pcb (yellow in colour on my board)
job sorted very cheap fix
