ParticipantHi all, in need or help, my uni flat has an Ignis AKL 827/WH
It has a front panel with two knobs, one for the function one for the temperature, it also has a light with a C next to it, I thought it would be a preheated light for the oven, but it doesn’t work, if I turn the oven up to full power, leave it for a while and turn the temp back it never goes out.
I called maintenance at my uni flat only to be told this is just a light to say the oven is on which I thought was odd as it has a C next to it. If the oven is on and I turn back the dial into what would be minus temp it will click and turn the light out but I am unsure why this happens, faulty stat?
Also the oven seem to take ages to get up to heat, I could leave it for 45 minutes, open the door and put my hand in and it only feel mildly warm.
Am I correct in saying this light is a temp light and something is up with the oven for it to always stay on when the oven is turned on and not go out when the temp has been reached?

i think you are correct as the lamp is conected to the elements when oven is switced on

I have told maintenance for my accommodation 3 times now that there is something wrong with it for them to tell me no everything is fine.
I have also now found that if I just turn the oven on, the oven will heat up without me having to adjust the temperature dial so I think the thermostat is broken?

1st the thermostat sounds as if needs renewing if you can turn it beyond 0deg backwards
2nd when the temp light is on the elements (2) should heat up
one is at the top of the oven cavity and the second, which is the usual suspect for failure,is under the base of the cavity-after a couple of minutes of being switched on you should feel the floor warmingjim

I can only just turn it beyond 0 Degrees as I found that it turned the thermostat light off.
I can see the top element heating up just fine but I will check and feel if the bottom heats up as it should. I’ve reported the fault to the maintenance at my flat 3 times now and every time I’m told everything is fine, when it clearly isn’t
