Found it a bit hard going this week,is it from changing the clocks? anyone else had that drained feeling this week,then again it might be my age 😕 .
Wonder if it will change should Scotland go independent,could be on different times which would be interesting for those working the borders if there is a time difference.Re: Clocks & Time Change
just wish I could fathom out how to change the time on my vans new fangled built in sat nav/ radio/hd tv screen thingmyjig.

I fail to see the point in altering the clocks. Wife comes from a Farming family and one day over the kitchen table I tried to get this across.
Was met with a farming answer.
“Well if they don’t change the clocks, means I have to feed my bullocks in the dark in the morning as well as the morning milking being done in darkness”.
So I suggested “Feed them an hour later”
“Oh no you cannot do that, as they are used to having their feed at the same time every day, same with milking the dairy herd”
“But you ARE feeding them an hour later, as soon as you change the clock”.
“No we are not, we feed them every day at 8-am winter or Summer”
“So you feed them at 8-am in the summer, than after moving YOUR clock on the kitchen wall, you still feed them at 8-o-clock according to your kitchen clock, but according to their body clock, YOU are an hour late.
“No I’m not, I still feed them at 8-am”
“Any way, you don’t like milking cows in the dark in the mornings, what time do you milk them in the afternoons?”
“Afternoon milking is around 5-pm”
So I had to ask… “Before they alter the clocks, is it dark?”
“No”
“So after you put the clock back, it is dark in the afternoon milking instead of the morning?”
“Yes, but give it a couple of weeks, and it is dark in the Morning as well”
So what is the bloody point! Leave the clocks alone.
OK In Scotland will be dark until 10 am. but surely they could carry out vial daylight tasks an hour later, or would they have the same argument as the conversation above? No doubt I will get a qualified answer.
Needless to say, I gave up the argument.

And if you don’t go into your user control panel and make sure your forum clock is set to UTC-1. Azores standard time, your posts will appear one hour later than you made them. 😉

My wife was gazing out the window on Sunday morning watching the birds in the field and said “I wonder how changing the clocks affects them”? 😯 😀

I set mine to GMT on Sunday so will now check what time this post says it was made…….I’m hitting the time travel key…..NOW!…….. :eeek:

lots of countries avoid changing now to save on power re street lighting etc ..
but i was thinking more of .. what came 1st
the big bang or time ? did the big bang make time or was it there before the big bang ….mmmmm

Question for Jim:-
The USA have turned their clocks back 1 hour today ( they do it a week after us because of Halloween weekend by the way. 😉 ) should we twiddle with our clocks now in order to keep up?

No idea, what does puzzle me is that I have the button to auto select DST set in my user control panel preferences but have always had to change the time setting manually when the time alters???
