ParticipantHi can anyone help me with information relating to a Maytag, Whirlpool made top loader, I have to slam lid shut to get it to work and not sure how I get access to the microswitch, 2 screws at rear at top of bezel, undid those but control panel does not lift off, Timer knob has 3 sections but did not want to force as customer can still use, also looking at where I can get spares as Maytag do not recognise the model number 3RMTW4905TW, possibly 12nc 852149515110, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ace.

To remove the control panel you need to undo the 2 downwards pointing screws at the back bottom of the bezel, it should then pull forwards slightly before you can lift and rotate it upwards. then you should be able to access the micro switch.

I have replaced a couple of lid switches on the whirlpool branded units – I haven’t checked which switch yours uses yet but it may be 481227618484 – I will double check later if I can but should be available through Connect etc.

Hi yes many thanks, I came up with that part number but I did not see the 2 screws pointing down at rear of bezel, are they hidden? I thought I may need to take the timer knob off to remove the cover bezel to then get to further screws but I did not want to break the timer knob, the other function knobs just pulled off fine.

They should be in the plastic end caps – may have sprung plastic tabs that need pushing out they way to get to the heads, there should be no need to remove timer knob (done from the back of the timer if I remember correctly) or any other knobs.
