ParticipantHi
I’m new here (only just discovered the forum), although as a Rosieres owner I have, of course, bought spares from here before. My question is how to go about replacing the left-hand oven thermostat. The stat still works but occasionally throws out the earth trip, presumably by arcing. I’d feel confident about replacing it if I knew how to get at it!I’d be grateful for any advice, diagrams, etc. etc. that could help.
Many thanks in advance

Ordinarily, you need to get the front facia off unless you can access the fixing screws of the thermostat with the knob off.
But, you then have to get the thermostat phial in place, without damaging it, which means that the cooker has to come out and you need to trace that out. Usually this will involve lifting one of the hob tops as well as the rear panel.
It’s not a two minute job usually.

Hi HTH
Thanks very much for that explanation. Do you know of any exploded diagrams that might help me locate the relevant fixing screws, etc.?
Regards

Hi Peter,
There are exploded views but they will only show the spare parts, not the fixings. Normally we have to simply work it out for most cookers.
Usually it’s reasonably logical but not always.
The diagrams for Roseires aren’t the best though and I don’t have access to them from home so I can’t put one up for you, not that it’d be of much help.

Thanks again K (got it right this time!)
Sounds like a ‘deep breath and dive in’ job 🙂
I appreciate the sound advice.

Hi
The cast iron top will need to be removed, screw on front side corner and rear of cooker.fasia doesn’t need to come off as dependent on age the stat is controlled by a extension link and is at the rear of the cavity.

Thanks a lot Bryan
How would you rank the job (1-10 easy-ridiculous to even try) for a non-professional attempting it for the first time?
Many thanks

Assuming you can get the cast iron top of pretty straight forward. However I’ve never come across a thermostat tripping the electrics. Would normally be the heating element…….

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… That’s where experience counts 😀
Is element replacement more straightforward?November 4, 2012 at 3:41 pm #384225bryan-206

Yes. Remove panel at rear inside oven. You’ll see the circular element. You also need to remove the rear access panel behind the cooker to access wiring. Power off throughout of course.
