Went to a Hotpoint WT740G washer that customer said was “stopping at the end of the main wash and showing fault code F-08”
I found the machine would Fill to correct level, Heat water ok, Agitate ok (motor ok), in other words do any wash. But as soon as you called up a pump-out it would empty all the water just fine(pump finally running empty) THEN it would flash to “end” and then “F-08” and carry on running the pump indefinitely. Same behaviour on any spin cycle. Also you could not switch the machine off – F-08 was displayed continuously.
I thought F-08 was a heater or heater relay fault, but it heats just fine on the wash. Can anyone explain this strange behavior?
Thanks guys – I know you won’t let me down!

Module, Pressure switch or an element down to earth take your pick if the element insulation is okay i would be changing the module.

That is one of the symptoms you get when the 680uf cap fails. Perhaps it is beginning to fail or another cap is. Look for domed top and / or brown gunk emerging.

Thanks for the input guys.. I got a Mk 6 board from EMW (bless ’em) and went back, meggerd motor and (submerged) heater (not much point in megging them dry). All OK. Tested machine again and all working perfectly now (with old board still in place). Several tests, but all OK. So told customer to call me if any problems, settled up and left. If any developments, I’ll add to the thread!!
