ParticipantSamsung SR-L627EV fridge with bottom freezer, 10 years old and never a problem, good and clean.
Freezer section stopped working followed by fridge section.
Initially checked by a non-Samsung engineer who didn’t seem to do any real diagnostics but replaced a sensor and left. No change to performance.
Then found ex-Samsung engineer (handles their warranty work in parts of Kent), new compressor fitted and re-gassed. All seemed OK but overnight freezer stopped freezing with temp fluctuating -10 to +10. Fridge OK constant +3.
Samsung engineer 2nd visit, checked gas – increased pressure – heard circulation ‘open up’, reset pressure and all seemed OK but ice cubes never fully froze. Overnight the freezer stopped freezing with temp fluctuating -10 to +10. Fridge OK constant +3, freezer eventually stayed +5 or more.
Samsung engineer 3rd visit, checked pressure but was OK, checked all circuits sensors etc. (stupidly, we had only switched unit on 40 minutes before his arrival so it was not showing malfunction). Considered how why freezer seems to be defrosting too soon too frequently. Replaced sensor with questionable reading (not wildly out) this was sensor fitted by the first engineer. Temperature immediately started to drop, all wonderful.. tub of water froze solid within 2 hours. Following morning fridge showing +3 OK, BUT freezer light flashing at -19 but inside not -19 and previously frozen block of water 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} defrosted.
Samsung engineer will certainly visit again, he is as frustrated as we are… any ideas? what are we missing?
Thanks for thinking about this.

Need to be checking that the heaters actually come on to defrost the evaporators. If the unit does not defrost itself as it should it will not switch back on. Unplug and restart it will be ok for one cycle then shut off again. PCbs do not fail often. Sensors and thermal fuses are common. Heaters also known to fail. Have never seen a compressor fail on one of these.

Funeral next week – all invited.
After 1 visit by engineer A and 4 visits by engineer B (great Checkatrade reviews and I feel a good guy)plus a new compressor the final diagnosis was a moving blockage in coolant circuit. Fridge was OK but freezer just would not freeze after first attempt.
Cost of funeral £320, donations welcome.
Baptism – all invited: Being a sucker for punishment I’ve gone for another Samsung, delivery expected 29 November. Fizzy n nuts supplied.
As only Bryan bothered to offer any advice, for which I am grateful,I guess that the 80 others who checked this thread had about as much idea as me. Seems this site is full of voyeurs.
Over and out.

A final POSITIVE comment on this…………. I had really excellent help from ANDY of appliancediyrepairs.co.uk, they are Samsung parts sellers. Even though I was not buying from them Andy gave his time on three long emails discussing what the problem/s might be. A shining knight in white goods – thanks Andy! http://www.appliancediyrepairs.co.uk

ParticipantUltimate Appliances – excellent service!!
Ultimate Appliances
Such A Really Awesome HelperIn the title above there is the name of the person who was the reason why I purchased from Ultimate Appliances. I knew the product that I wanted. Ultimate Appliances had an OK price plus, at the time, collection of old fridge freezer was included. The clincher was the immediate and helpful responses that I got when asking about delivery dates, times and whether or not I could help the driver bring the new large fridge freezer into our house. All the answers were positive so I placed the order. Communications were good and kept me informed of delivery day and, eventually, the expected delivery time slot. As promised, the driver called 45 minutes before he arrived and when he arrived the driver, Chris, could not have been more helpful. The nameless lady at AU and driver Chris both ensured that the order and delivery experience has been First Class. The Samsung is now switched on so I wait to see if the new machine will be as good as the service provided by Ultimate Appliances. Many thanks S & G of AU for super service.. so far 🙂
