Have just changed brushes on motor, of friends machine, as first port of call when drum not turning in all of cycle. Machine is 10 ish years old. This has not solved problem. With machine on checked for power at motor and brushes, which is there. Any ideas..door locks ok. haven’t tried pressure release switch.

First of all, there is absolutely no need whatsoever to ‘live’ test. It is a very dangerous thing to do, all tests can be done with a suitable megger or multimeter with the machine unplugged.
You can test the motor in this way, it is not unknown for the motor toc to have blown or for the main pcb to be damaged if the worn brushes have arced across the comm.
What on earth is the pressure release switch. ❓
