    We have a Lacanche Macon cooker and if we could afford the repair and service that it needs, we would certainly do it. The problem at the moment is a fan which keeps gunking up, it needs a clean and then lubricant applied. However, we don’t know what food safe, high temperature lube we can use, my searches keep coming up with mostly American products or things for vehicles.

    I would appreciate pointing in the right direction and if I can purchase via this site – even better 🙂 Please help before my husband applies clock oil!!!

    Many of the Lacanche range of ovens are costly in the extreme. I am not familiar with them as such but would seriously suggest you desist from attempting to clean the fan without contacting Lacanche in Poole directly. Oven fans should not normally be touched and would not need cleaning throughout their normal usage and would never need lubrication. However, most fans can be fairly easily removed and cleaned in extreme circumstances though this procedure would be confined to experts.

    Also, oven cleaning companies (Cookerburra for example) can and do a brilliant job in cleaning oven ranges of this type. So that may be an alternative for you. But whatever you do, refrain from the use of cooking oil…….!!!

    Hi Martin

    Thanks for the info, will look into cookerburra, they do seem to be what we are after as the cooker needs a blooming good deep clean.

    The fan is all fixed again, thank goodness, it looks like the bearings are on their way out and you were very right, no lubrication was needed at all. It’s so good that we have a really fast oven again!

    My husband, although now in IT, did start off life as a electro-mechanical engineer, so he knew mostly what he was doing.
