How to unblock drain on Bosch dishwasher?
Sorry, posted the below in “general” section of the forum before I found this section. Maybe that’s why no replies so I’m posting here too, hope that’s ok with admin… :/

Hi, I have a 10 year old Bosch SL15K1B dishwasher type sgs43a42uk/01. Today I’ve noticed it will not drain – on completion of the cycle there is a lake of soapy water in the bottom. If I force a reset by holding the start/stop button for 3 secs I can drain a little of the water, but I have to do this 6 times to drain it completely. The pump runs but only drains a little.

Obviously there’s a blockage somewhere, just wondering how to proceed, ie which panels I have to remove to get to the drain pump?
    Thanks

Power off, lay the machine carefully on its back ( not side ) and remove the bottom plate….the pump is right there…..!

Well before I got to that I root around inside the drain sump (after removing the filter) and found 2 cardamon pods and a blade of star anise – so it seems it was the curry wot done it!!

I’ve removed them and have run a test rinse cycle now with perfect results.. 🙂

Very impressed with this Bosch dishwasher actually, coming up to its 10th birthday in January and the only “breakdown” in all that time turns out to be due to user carelessness. Was only £200 or so from currys in 2003. Top value!

Thanks for the info on pump access, glad I didn’t need it on this occasion.
