great site and really appreciate the info you guys share. so, thought i’d post before i part with cash…
Baumatic – I notice there’s very little info on this brand (just searched the forms – only 4 mentions) and was hoping that was a good thing.. nothing bad to report..?
or are they such a joke that no-one touches them with a barge-pole..?
i’m looking at a BAUMATIC MEGA6 ABB 6KG SSTEEL for £270

Bear in mind that Baumatic is not a manufacturer in its own right, so all it’s products are “badged” from other makers. Also, this name was originally established to supply into the far smaller fitted appliance market, so it is slightly surprising that they are entering the free standing market.Having had a look on the Baumatic site, I think we can safely say that the range comprises Merloni built machines; if you have a scan around the site for say “Servis” washers (Which are also a Merloni product) you might get a better impression of what the Public, never mind the Trade think of them!
I think the basic rule of thumb these days is you get what you are prepared to pay for. A better bet for your requirement (1400 rpm/6kg load/silver) would be a Bosch WFR145S, currently under £500 but a far better bet on the longevity and reliability front. Two years warranty as well.
