I have a Hoover optima OPH616-80 washing machine with a drain problem. Whenever the machine needs to drain the drain pump runs for just a few seconds then stops. The machine gives no indication of any other problem. If you stop and switch the machine to drain then again the pump runs for only a few seconds then stops again. Eventually I can empty the machine by repeating this. There is no blockage in the pump and it seems to rotate OK.
Where should I look for the problem. I would guess maybe the pressure switch. We have in the past had problems with blocked drain pipes but this has always previously been resulted in water overflowing from the drain onto the floor. This is definitely not the case this time.

    Thanks

    Hi Alan,

Yes, the pressure switch would be a reasonable place to look first as well as the hose leading up to it.
