Several in the past.
Zanussi had a spate, as did Candy, Bosch have had a number of them as well.
Usually not as well publicised though.

Me neither, especially as lives were lost and several house fires later Beko have a shameful record quite unique in the trade so far. 😥

Went to a Flavel slimline dishwasher yesterday. (i’m assuming they’re Beko’s).
The anti flood had been activated due to a leak, and lucky for the customer that he was around and switched it off when he smelt burning, as the heater was being switched on during the anti flood pump out.But by coincidence I was at a CDA/Whirpool dishwasher as well yesterday when the customers Zanussi washer nearly caught fire due to a blocked air trap. I had to intervene and help him sort it out.
Two in one day 🙁
Very frightening when you think of the potential consequences.December 15, 2012 at 10:44 am #386103lee8

A classic canary brand.
Considering they make for several so called Brands who have the same products but no recalls, why make yours worse than theirs, or are they just not bothering to inform them, i feel a storm may be brewing.
These are just the ones they no about, I’ve had to report a brand to both HSE and Gas Safe due to non gas engineer working on a gas appliance, failed to spot the wrong jets fitted and ignored the clients remarks about feeling unwell, the black sot in the cavity, he filled out the gas report as ok and left operating for 4 months before I got called. All due to gas engineer cut backs.
Nobody can do anything about before hand as the call centre can claim the client didn’t report a gas fault. Although had the client been killed the Directors would have needed to explain the companies actions in court.
Although this incident is now on record, so should a fatality happen in the future, there is more chance that someone will end up in prison.
As for complaining and investigating complaints Gas safe, the govt etc etc is useless regarding large companies and there poor management of staff and responsibilities.
The law regarding Gas and Electrical safety in this country is an arse. 👿

Reading the level of deaths involved its 8 for the cookers and at least 1 for the fridges its astonishing how low key this still is.
One manufacture has directly caused the death of at least 9 people, how they are still allowed to trade I don’t know,
This must prove that they are cutting corners in r&d, safety testing and compliance.
We all moan about various brands for exploding drums, melting dishwashers ect but in general most seem to have there problems under control, certinatly not seriously injuring people.
Beko seem to be getting worse.
