ParticipantHi all,
I hope I have the correct area of the forum, apologies if not.Anyway, I have a Zanussi ZI9454X Fridge freezer (double-door fridge at the top, double door freezer lower half) purchased second hand around a year ago. All has been working fine until around a month ago when I noticed the built in digital temperature display rising. Eventually it reached 8 degrees centigrade above freezing and held there. I purchased a “hang on the shelf” thermometer and this is showing the temperature as being below -30C, (it only reads to -30 and is dropping just past that).
I am hoping that someone could advise as to what the issue may be, although I have no experience in fridge/freezer repairs, I am practically minded and am hoping that I may be able to carry out a DIY repair with a little guidance.
I have completely defrosted the freezer for a 24hr period and have had a thourough clean around the compressor, etc. I am guessing it may be thermometer or thermostat needing replacing, as the display is reading around 8-10C causing the freezer not to turn off and continuously want to freeze.
Just as a further note, there are two compressors, one is running warm (possibly the fridge) the other is hot, which I believe is for the freezer, it triggers when I turn the freezer on and continuously runs.
Many thanks in advance, Wayne

Yes, it sounds like a thermostat or thermistor issue.
What’s the PNC number on the rating plate?

I think it’s this one that you may well need but you will need to check it.

Ok,just to update on the above.
Continued using the fridge/freezer and found that the temperature began rising internally, found that the evaporator was chocked with ice so went for a defrost. The temperature dropped back to -20. However, the LED display is still reading +8 degrees.
I called our home insurance (we have a separate policy for kitchen appliances) who sent out and engineer and has advised that the part at fault is the Feeler Assembly – part# 242502212, he has also advised that the part is obsolete. We did have ‘New for Old’ on the policy, however the policy states that one repair needs to be carried out before the New for Old is honored, and due to the part being obsolete the policy has been cancelled on the fridge/freezer.
Arrrrgggghhhh!
Anyway, I am now looking for a Fridge/Freezer Feeler Assembly (PN:2425022122) for a Zanussi fridge freezer (ZI9454X 925781803 00) to attempt a fix myself. If any one knows of a supplier for this part, or if there is a compatible part, I would be very, very grateful if you could share or advise.
Many thanks again, Wayne
