    Hi Guys,

    First post here.

    I’ve got a Hotpoint Aquarius WF560 1600 Spin washing machine.

    Problem is it won’t lock the door to start the washing cycle, it will just sit there with the power light on. Been having a read about and some fingers are pointing to the door interlock switch.

    If you bypass this switch the the machine the door lock light illuminates and the cycle starts. Grand, I thought, It’s the switch, although I swapped that out with a new unit today and nothing ( same behaviour)

    Anyone else had a similar issue to this? Someone else has mentioned that it may be the PCB that is not sending the signal to the interlock to lock the door. I don’t really want to start swapping out more components, so if anyone has had a similar experience and solved it I would be very greatful for any advice!

    I think that’s a 3 phase motor but of it has brushes have you checked them ? When you say you bypassed it what did you do ?

    Hi thanks for the response.

    No I haven’t checked the brushes.

    Basically opened the switch and manually operated the mechanism with an ( insulated screwdriver) to complete the circuit. Which work and the machine started its fill cycle, release the switch and the machines power light blinks in quick succession, and the cycle stops. So at least that part is doing its job.

    Check the door catch.
    Try also loosening the screws a little, holding the interlock in place. I have notice sometimes that if you over tighten them the lock doesn’t work.

    Worth checking you did wire it correctly as this plug is reversible on some locks.

    Hi,

    Yep that’s right it is however I didn’t have to cut anything off the block connector in mine, it just slotted in with the wires exiting towards the rear of the machine as described.

    In that case its likely the board if all the wiring is fine. I often fining the door lock takes the board out.

    In fact had this very thing today.

    @ Madangler1 – You’re absolutely right.

    Thanks for all the responses so far.

    I pulled the board last night, on first look the damage was apparent.

    Cleaned up the burned contacts with some isopropyl alcohol but apart from this ( which hasn’t burned all the way through)

    So I spent some time going through it all with a magnifying glass, there was no other track damage.

    I tested for continuity on those nearby connectors and tracks. and none showed an open circuit.

    Finally I noticed this

    ( right side of the 2 ) from what I make out some sort of surface mount resistor which shows no continuity at all ( all others do)

    So I am guessing I need a new board.

    Just to update this

    I bought a new board and all was well.
