    Aeg S75628sk14 fridge freezer
When the fridge door is closed the light dims but does not turn off.
Is this normal or should it turn off completely?
    Thanks

It is a normal door actuated switch that should turn the lamp off completely. So I would suspect the only solution would be to replace that switch.

Thanks for that martin but it is a magnetically operated reed switch which is incorporated into the control board at £80 odd quid plus vat. Don’t normally do fridge work but its for a friend, so at that price i have to be sure of how this appliance is supposed to operate,

On some fridges the bulb is dimmed to assist with running, so can be on like a defrost heater,

Reading the user instructions it refers to the PCB controlling both the fridge and freezer lights should the doors be open too long. Closing and opening the door/s will reactivate the light. Also it says the fridge light switch is controlled by a magnet ” in the crisper” and if the fridge light doesn’t work to ” put the magnet back”…. Huh?
