ParticipantHi, I have a WDL540 washer dryer and it has decided to pack in. The option lights flash along the bottom and I get 4 lights at the right hand side, 1-4 illuminated (from the bottom up). I suspect it is a pump related issue as the machine appears to work up until the pump kicks in. The pump runs for around five seconds then the lights start to flash and the door unlocks. I have stripped the pump and hoses down, the sump was full of coins but cleared it all out and re assembled. The pump impeller spins and water does exit the machine until it starts flashing.
New pump?

That error code is supposed to signify no drying, possibly dryer relay open circuit.???

really? it happens even out of the drying cycles, just on pump out or spin this is happening? strange, Can an unrelated component which is not used for the selected cycle still have an influence on the operation?

It’s an Indesit, it has electronics that are known to be flaky to say the least, anything is possible. 🙁

Can no one else shed any light on the issue? I have swapped the pump but it is still acting up. I thought this error code could be easily deciphered?

Hi
iadom has already answered you query.
Check all the parts of the dryer.
The machine is made by Indesit as iadom says so the electronics can show up weird codes unrelated to the actual fault.December 24, 2012 at 3:31 pm #386603evo360

Is it possible to run the washer dryer with no element? My supplier cant get the element until thursday, Can I simply short the two wires out? or do I need some resistance in there too?

Short the two wires out,!!!!!! that question tells me that you really should not be putting your hands anywhere near an electrical appliance. I strongly advise you to get someone with proper electrical knowledge to attend to it before you do some serious damage.

:boops: Fair enough, just thought that I would be closing the circuit which was opened due to the element breaking. Without giving me a huge lesson, can you explain to me what the difference is between connecting the two wires with and without the element in circuit 😐

The difference will be a bang/ flash. It may take out the fuse or rcd but could just as likely take out the main circuit board. :eeek:

Have you actually tested the element electrically for continuity/resistance/insulation?
Full model, serial number and commercial code needed to identify correct element, always assuming that it is actually faulty.

Cart before the horse, why try and find out which heater is needed before you even know its faulty?
Serial number and commercial code a must, its on a small label inside the door, also may be on the back of the washer.
