and door doesn’t feel like its closing properly.
Cleaned filter not that gungy. Turned back on and the ‘2’ light came on and won’t move onto any other cycle.
What else should I check – need to try something before Xmas! All ideas gratefully received.

Error codes are given by flashing lights not static ones. The only way to proceed is to check the various components electrically starting with the door switch. If you don’t have access to proper test equipment and know how to use it then the only alternative I can suggest is THIS

Thanks for the link to washing up liquid! Not sure why the door switch would stop it draining! Not trying to do any poor engineer out of a call out but Xmas is looming and so any ‘simple’ checks for a layperson was all I was looking for rather than just getting out the rubber gloves.
As the Indesit manual and ‘helpline’ have no troubleshooting tips I thought this forum might be able to help. So if I have a static light does that mean it doesn’t have a traceable fault??

The machine won’t do anything if the door lock has failed or the door is not correctly closing. You say the door is not closing rite so this would indicate the possible location of the fault.
A solid light means its still in cycle, You should be able to reset it by either holding the power or program button for 3 seconds. You should hear a series of beeps.
The simple fact is there are no easy things to check with a dishwasher. Specialist tools and knowledge are needed, years spent working on them helps.Save your self time and hassle and call some one.
