ParticipantHi guys
We bought the above model about 6 years ago (after consulting this forum) and very happy with it. It had a 5 year guarantee and 4 years into that the pump blew – machine would not empty. Engineer came and changed the pump and when he switched back on it blew the board (fused the house actually!) and the poor guy then had to change the board as well.
Now we are out of guarantee. Recently it would not empty so I thought it might be a similar problem and so I looked in the filter and the were a couple of zip ties in there. Removed them but still would not pump so I sent off for a new pump and changed it. On re-assembling I tested on a rinse cycle (no clothes) and it worked fine. However, I did notice a noise that reminded me of a slight arcing noise when it span – seemed to be coming from the top end (where I had not touched anything). Next time we tried to run it on rinse with some clothes in there, all was fine until it got to the spin – it emptied fine but did not spin. After thinking about it for a while, the machine just moves on to “end”.
My thoughts are that the board has gone again as this does sound similar to before but I thought I would ask for your opinion before I splash out 160 quid which is a big ask for us.
1 – Do you think it might be the board?
2 – Given that I was fine with changing the pump and re-assembling, do you think that this is a job I should be able to tackle or is it strictly professionals only?
3 – The best price I can find is 157 pounds plus postage but if you guys know any better then that then that would be great.Sorry for the essay but tried to give as much info as possible.
Thanks and seasons greetings, Doug

Thanks for the tip – I will check the brushes but the motor does turn the drum during the rest of the cycle – just not on the spin.

Hi
After six years the brushes will need changing, worn brushes give off an arcing sound. Do not use machine until you have checked brushes, arcing brushes can blow main boards.

Hi all. Brushes changed and now working fine. Thank you for all your help. Just the drier to fix now (it appears to have given up in sympathy 🙂 )
