ParticipantNot sure what i can really do about it , but i’m gonna have a rant anyways! So i get a phone call form a woman just before Christmas asking for a second opinion on a quote shes been given. So i go out there and the guy has “written off” her Whirlpool fully integrated d/w because the heaters gone. He says it would cost over £200. But when i get there the wooden panel is back on but the entire top fascia including the pcb board is missing?!! So i asked the lady for his number to ask him for it back. He answers and i explain who i am and what i want. But his reply is that he can’t really remember and has already thrown it away! (bearing in mind he only went there a few weeks ago) I quizzed him on why he had taken the board and fascia off to which his reply was “erm i can’t remember”. I also asked him did he turn the power off. To which his reply was “i don’t remember”. So i get out my meter and take off the front (after turning off the ring main for the kitchen sockets as i didn’t have much confidence in his ability’s ) I tested the mains in and it was still live!! He had left the machine LIVE with the wires dangling inside the lower metal door!! So i rang him privately in my van and asked him what the hell he was playing at and why 1: why had he taken the board in the first place (i suspect to use on another job) And 2: why had he not un-pluged the m/c to which his reply was “well i couldn’t reach the plug as it was behind the machine…” at that point i’d had enough and told him he was a disgrace! and hung up lol . The worst thing was was that he charged the woman £50!.

Another cowboy riding the range story (all too typical of the breed) and another one gets away with it yet again. If only the victim did something about it sooner this guy could easily have been brought to account. Especially as : the victim knows who the ‘engineer’ was. A third party got a ‘confession’ from the guy that he removed the part (theft). And later contact forced yet further admissions from the guilty party……. :rolls:
The victim should at least inform Trading Standards and you could corroborate the story to at least flag this guy up as a rouge trader and thief. But my guess is that it won’t happen. 🙁

Wouldn’t go down too well in’t North, these rouge traders 😉 . Seriously though, there is a well known local firm round these parts that want to take machines to the workshop for no drain jobs……..Bosch dishwasher last one, around eight years old, five minutes of a job, quarter of an hour with brew and chat?????

No mate your spelling’s right, down here we call them thieving scumbags. Unfortunately there’s more & more of them popping up.
