I recently acquired a Smeg UK80MFX1 – about 10 years old. Work fine initially, then tripped the RCD every time I turn the selector switch (either way). I’ve tried disconnecting each element – bottom and top, the two fans and anything else thats got wires going into it! – still the same. I’ve checked the selector switch, and has no sign of burning, or blackening – please help! :rolls:

Is it a particular selector switch or is it any selector switch that is causing the tripping?

Its the main selector switch – the one that controls all the oven functions

Have discovered its the live terminal on the electronic timer that’s tripping the RCD. JUST NEED A NEW TIMER. Thanks for your help

Really? Did you isolate the timer then switch back on?

The live terminal on the electronic timer has burnt out – just hanging on by a thread, and all blackened. Is the electronic timer linked to the piezo ignition? – that’s stopped working as well – if it is, I won’t be able to test until the new timer’s installed

Just as i thought, i think you need to call an engineer before you waste any more money.
