Could be a claim in that the BBQ instructions didn’t exclude it beng used as an indoor drier!

Back in their ‘homelands’ they used the ability of fire for various needs, so that report doesn’t surprise me. My brother in law (who lives in Durban South Africa) is an administrator charged with taking care of the local Bantu tribal lands. They issued many of their new homes with electricity and small electric freestanding cookers. But many (because they couldn’t afford the electric bills) converted their electric ovens to ‘wooden stoves’ instead. Using the bottom oven as a burner with a cobbled pipe at the top allowing the smokestack to go outside…….!
