A Birmingham man died when he electrocuted himself while trying to repair a washing machine, an inquest heard.

Vincent Calland, aged 42, was discovered by a neighbour slumped over the machine at his home in Court Farm Road, Erdington, in March.

City coroner Aidan Cotter recorded a verdict of accidental death.

He said Mr Callard had unscrewed the lid so he could get inside the machine but failed to make sure it was safe before putting his hand in.
