Hi and apologies for my opening book of a post.

We’ve had Miele equipment since 2004 (FF & WM) and have just brought one of their T8812 tumble dryers.

I wish I’d discovered this site prior to then as I have read some fascinating articles over the weekend and discovered ISE, who I like the look of.

There’s only two of us and let’s just say the current machines don’t take a lot of hammering 😉 so we’ve never had occasion to call out Miele, which sounds like it could be an ‘interesting’ exercise 😕 .

I’m not adverse to spending pennies for good kit and have been looking at Miele’s 5400 and 5220 dishwashers.

ISE’s D243W costs quite a bit more and working on the basis that we’d probably use a dishwasher no more than 5 times a week, are we spending money for the sake of it?

I really like the the sound of the ISE business model and approach, though I haven’t found any comments about what would happen were ISE to close as a business, especially with regards their warranties.

So, do we spend a shed load of cash on a ‘unknown’ brand, spend a still decent amount of money with a company with which we already have appliances, or look at the likes of Bosch and save a decent chunk of money?

    Hi

ISE have built a reputation on supplying quality products, with the best guarantees currently on the market. The appliances themselves are of a construction which is second to none. The guarantees are fund protected which you can read about here on the ISE site.

The beauty of ISE after sales service is that it is carried out by local service engineers, it may be that it’s the same engineer who installed it that arrives to look after it should it ever be needed.

Miele appliances are superb bits of kit, the guarantees are similar, but only when they are on promo do they get near to ISE. Miele also restrict service information to the independent repairer which makes them harder to repair and the spares are a lot more expensive by comparison. Bosch would be my choice in their price bracket and should last a good 6-8 years and with their two year warranty offer good value.

Why not click the ” find a dealer tab ” on the ISE site to find a local supplier to talk to.

    HTH 🙂

    Hi Don

I probably spent 1/2 a day over the weekend reading numerous various forum articles here and elsewhere. As a result I hope not to have to speak to Miele on a fault issue………. 😕

I have just spoken to one of the local agents for ISE and he had no direct experience of their dishwashers so I’ll try the next nearest agent.

We got our Miele WM with a 10 year warranty promo and I see they’re doing 5 year dishwashers ones atm.

I guess I’m trying to reconcile the (financial) value of a £700+ purchase, regardless of manufacturer.

Oh and are you advocating Bosch in the equivalent price bracket? We’ve looked at a few and their Siemens siblings and the drawer quality on the Siemens seemed better.

    Hi

Bosch in their price range are the best IMO. The SMS69L22 is the only one which comes near to the Siemens models.

Siemens and Bosch are from the same stable, Siemens start effectively where Bosch range finishes so yes the build will be better as will the energy efficiency and noise levels will be a little lower. The guarantees are also longer as well.

Chatted with Dave Quinn at ISE today and do still like the idea of their machine and business.

However I’ve been looking at Miele’s G5400c and I can get it for under £800, which is a decent amount cheaper than the ISE with delivery.

Heart says ISE but Head thinks the Miele will be cheaper overall especially with their current 5 year warranty.

Anyone care to cast a vote for me? 😀

The ISE is a far better looking machine, more subtle control display layout. Whereas the Miele’s display and protruding buttons are so typical of the brand and rather dated.

Right, I’m going to blame Martin for this 😉 but the deed has been done and a D243 has now been ordered.

Hopefully end of next week delivery.

I honestly don’t think we will be but it it is a hefty wedge of cash for something that isn’t going to get an awful lot of use.

Mind you it did occur to me that I have three sets of carbon fibre wheels for my best racing bike, and each set are worth at least £1K. Obviously I can only ride one pair at a time and this bike probably gets about 3 hours of use a week when averaged out over a year.

    It’s all relative 😆

I would change the way you use the dishwasher and use it everyday, more economical and hygienic. You have one of the best dishwashers around and you need to get the best out of it, make sure you get salt, rinse aid and separate detergent.

I put a post up on a one of the cycling forums I use and I think the general consensus was that I’m a fool with money to burn (which may actually be true) 🙂 .

However at least two different people must have read ISE’s website as both said it desperately needed proof reading.

I shall pass that on but thought it worth mentioning here for those that have businesses; – a potential audience can be very hard on’t interweb.
